The Roman poet and astrologer Marcus Manilius flourished in the 1st century AD under the Emperor Augustus or Tiberius. His Astronomicon, which is divided into five books, is a work of great learning where the author generally represents the most advanced views of the ancients on astrology. Manilius was one of the first to use the astrological system of houses to link human affairs to the circuit of the zodiac.
