Guillaume Perrault (c.1180-1271), a French Dominican writer and preacher, was Master of Theology at the Sorbonne but was later sent to Lyons where he spent the rest of his life. This is one of his major works and is in itself part of a much larger work, the Magisterium Divinale et Sapientiale. It is considered to be a monumental Dominican theological work. First printed in 1479, it was reprinted several times.
