Caius Julius Solinus, who probably flourished in the 3rd century, was a Latin grammarian and compiler. His work De Mirabilibus Mundi describes the curiosities of the ancient world and contains remarks on the history, social conditions and religious rites of different countries. The work is divided into 63 chapters describing various countries while a further 22 chapters are dedicated solely to Rome.
