Aldus Manutius (1449-1515) printed this Thesaurus in 1496. It contains works of Greek and Byzantine grammarians and texts in various Greek dialects. In the preface, Manutius states that the Thesaurus contains practically all that is required in order to have a perfect knowledge of Greek literature. It is here that Manutius announced his plans to publish the first printed editions of Aristotle's works.
